Dr JB Wilson is a renowned Ghanaian Gynecologist. He had his training at the University College in Ibadan and specialist postgraduate training at the Queen Mothers’ Hospital, University of Glasgow, in the early 1970s.

Maame Kwaaba Stephens graduated Valedictorian from Holy Child High School and continued on to SOS Herman Gmeiner International College both in Ghana, for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. She obtained a BA from Oberlin College and an MBA from Vanderbilt University, both in the USA. She held many impressive leadership roles in school including being a Class Agent and the Vice President for her Senior Class and later served on the Board of Trustees in Oberlin College from 2001 till 2004 and most recently on the Board of SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College.

She is a Director with the Kaysens Group of companies and efficiently managed the company’s Telecom business the last 10 years. Prior to that, she worked as an Associate at General Electric’s (GE) Professional Management Development Program, (PMDP) and Assistant Brand Manager with Procter & Gamble (P&G) at the company’s Global Headquarters in Ohio. She has turned her passion – to travel and organize events – into a profit with Kwaaba Vacations, a destination management company.

Maame Kwaaba Stephens has found numerous ways to give back to society. She supports charitable organizations and numerous causes personally, through family, work, and other organizations, as her own way of showing appreciation to those who have helped her come this far. These include scholarships, community service, a mentoring program, employment opportunities, and more.

She co-leads Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives within the Kaysens Group of companies. She is an Association Member for the SOS Children’s Villages in Ghana and has contributed tremendously towards the welfare of underprivileged children. She is the Founder and Chapter Lead for P&G Alumni Network Ghana Chapter, where together with her team, engage in philantropic activies. Through Rotary, she has been very instrumental in launching and leading many initiatives and projects. Maame initiated, championed, and led The Rotary Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign – the first ever nationwide and largest blood drive in Ghana.

She was the Brand Ambassador for the National Blood Service, Ghana. Her one year term was extended to 5 additional years due to her diligent work. She was instrumental in helping raise funds for initiatives for the National Blood Service, provided avenues to generate awareness on blood donation, organized mass mobile sessions and established relationships with numerous groups and organizations that have donated blood or supported the cause.

With her own funds and the help of generous sponsors, she has been able to execute a lot of initiatives and believes the establishment of Kwaaba Foundation will enable her do more for society in a more structured and impactful way. 

Maame is the Nkosuohemaa (Queen Mother for Development) of Adeiso in the Eastern Region of Ghana. She was conferred the name “Firdaus” by the muslim community in Offei-Yaw, Ghana – an Arabic name which means “The Highest Level of Paradise” for her commitment to the community. She is also an Eisenhower Fellow – Innovative global leaders of remarkable achievements, with positive impact on society with a zeal to do more.

Dr. JB Wilson

Dr JB Wilson is a renowned Ghanaian Gynecologist. He had his training at the University College in Ibadan and specialist postgraduate training at the Queen Mothers’ Hospital, University of Glasgow, in the early 1970s.

He lectured at the the Korle Bu Medical School in 1974 and retired in 2000 but remains on Contract.  He also taught in the Nursing and Midwifery Schools at Korle Bu between 1975 and 1995. He was Head of Obstetrics/Gynecology Department from 1986 – 1996 and Vice-Dean of the Medical School from 1987 – 1989.

His major contributions to medical practice among others, have been the establishment of a Postgraduate Program which has trained more than 100 Gynaecologists, leading a team to research and undertake projects in prevention of Maternal Mortality from 1988 to date, as well as being part of the working group at the Dept. of Health NCS that planned and introduced National Family Planning into Ghana.

He has been appointed External Examiner at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana, and SMS University (Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ilorn, Nigeria), Ghana Medical & Dental Council, Nurses & Midwifery Council, Ghana College of Physicians & Surgeons, American College of O&G, Royal College of O&G, and UK and West Africa College of Surgeons from 1981 to date.

Dr. Wilson has also been a Member of the Medical Ethics Commission of the NCS since 1979, and was Advisor to the Department of Health from 1986 – 2000. He has also served on the National Catholic Health Council since 1986. Dr. Wilson was instrumental in the planning and establishment of the Fistula Hospital at Mankessim and is today, the Acting Medical Director and Chair of the Hospital Board.

Thanos Souroutzidis

(Board Member)

Thanos Souroutzidis, originally from Greece, is a Marketing executive with experience developing complex brand strategies to deliver record business growth in the Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) industries. He has a track record in new business development and innovation management, and is proficient in business planning and business management including P&L and budget management.  He has a unique blend of technology, marketing and consumer knowledge skills, with demonstrated ability to translate complex technologies into winning consumer propositions. He also has a stellar reputation for developing people and organizations.

He served in the Greek Army from 1989-1990. A Dean’s List, Fulbright Scholar and WP Murphy Scholar, Thanos graduated with BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Thessaloniki, Greece; Ph.D., Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University Evanston, Illinois, and MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth Graduate School of Business.

He worked at Procter & Gamble (P&G) from 2000 – 2014 in various capacities, that is, as Brand Manager for P&G Future Works, Global Brand Manager for Tide Franchise-Emerging Markets, Senior Brand Manager, North America P&G Professional (PGP) and Associate Marketing Director for P&G Pet Care. He was also marketing leader of P&G’s $400 million Lodging, Food Service and Janitorial business. Additionally, he was Principal Scientist for P&G Exploratory R&D between (1994-1998) where he authored 13 patents, invented in-market technologies in redox catalysis, encapsulation, surfactancy, and perfume delivery. After P&G, he took on a Marketing Director Role for Nutrisurance Worldwide at Kemin Industries in Iowa USA, where he developed and led global marketing.

He is currently retired and enjoying time with family and fun times in the wilderness of Indiana, USA.
